Emily Long

I am currently a sophomore at UMD, and I am majoring in Government and Politics and minoring in International Development and Conflict Management. My interest in human trafficking was sparked during my Junior year of high school, and I have learned about and fought against the issue ever since. I am currently a fellow at FAIR Girls in DC, I am super stoked about this trip, and my random hobbies include henna and photography. Nice to meet you!

Beijie Zhang

Beijie Zhang is a sophomore at UMD in College Park, Maryland majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Statistics. He loves hiking and biking. He will soon be blogging about AB DC team's journey. You readers out there are encouraged to send him questions!

Maddie Clouser

Hi my name is Maddie. I am a Senior at the University of Maryland. I am studying Hearing and Speech Sciences. I hope to someday either help individuals with communication disorders or work for an anti-trafficking organization. I am from Severna Park, Maryland and love spending time in close-by Annapolis. I am the President of Students Ending Slavery, a student group with the mission of mobilizing others to become active abolitionists and educating the community about all forms of modern-day slavery. I am also a member of Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) and Terp Runners. I like to run, hike, read, and draw. I'm so excited to learn more about anti-human trafficking efforts!

Hope Goodman

Hi everyone! I am currently a first year student at the University of Maryland majoring in Psychology and Criminology and Criminal Justice and working towards a minor in neuroscience. Presently, I would love to become a neuropsychologist to research mental illness, but only time will tell! I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but was raised outside of the Windy City. Along with being a member of this awesome trip, I am a UMD tour guide, member of Peer Leadership Council, and Fundraising Coordinator for the Justice and Legal Thought Scholars Program. I also love to volunteer through Terp Service days and let out my competitive edge playing intramural sports. A couple fun facts and hobbies: collecting bobble heads, my love for New Girl and rocking out to 80’s classics and an obsession with the biological basis of human behavior. I cannot wait to delve into this trip, to learn more about the prominent social issue of human trafficking and to help spread awareness as much as possible.

Desirée Catalán

I am currently a freshman at UMD studying Neurobiology and Physiology and working towards adding a second major in Psychology. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, there is nothing I enjoy more than spending a sunny day at the beach. I moved to Maryland to pursue my college career and take advantage of the incredible resources UMD has to offer. Hopefully, I will achieve my goal of becoming a neurosurgeon in the future and be able to help people through medicine. I have a passion for helping others and this trip will serve as an awesome opportunity to embark on a new journey and give back to the DC community.

Caroline Pyon

Hello, my name is Caroline and I am currently a sophomore at University of Maryland. I am a double major in Early Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education and Family Science. I currently work as a part-time teaching assistant at a preschool and am a team leader for a program called America Reads. I have also been recently initiated into the International Honor Society of Education, Kappa Delta Pi. Along with my passion for education and children, I enjoy music very much. I am an active sister of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity. I entered college with a huge heart for victims of human trafficking, so I am very excited to go on our upcoming ASB trip!

Chloe Levin

Hi! My name is Chloe and I'm a sophomore psychology major and public leadership minor. I'm from a small town in Connecticut but I prefer the warmth and faster-paced lifestyle near DC! I love cooking and eating food (some of my favorites are Thai, Mexican, and Italian), as well as listening to music, drawing, and traveling! One of my favorite trips was to Thailand, where I got to help care for elephants. I'm excited to spend my spring break in DC this time, learning more about such an important issue.

Kevin Chan

Hi! My name is Kevin Chan and I am currently a Sophomore at the University of Maryland double majoring in Accounting and Supply Chain Management. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but have lived in Montgomery County, MD my whole life. During my free time, I like to play tennis, soccer, and hang out with friends. As for the future, I hope to work in New York City because of its upbeat environment.
